Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None (S1; 12 Episodes) – Anime Review

I watched this anime in English dub.

TL;DR: Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None is an action-packed fantasy with strong magic elements and light fan service. Fun and bingeable, but includes:

  • Some blood and heavier moments
  • Mild suggestive content
  • A few themes that may need parental awareness

Section 1: By the Grace of the gods (S1; 12 Episodes) — At a Glance

Anime Summary | Taken directly from MyAnimeList

“Orhun Dura, today will be your last day in the party.”

Orhun, once a skilled Swordsman, had adapted to the role of Enchanter to fill a crucial gap in the Hero Party. However, one day, the party leader abruptly dismisses him, claiming his skills are lacking. Branded a “weakling” and a “jack of all trades, master of none,” by his former comrades, Orhun is cast out without a second thought.

Determined to start anew, he returns to adventuring—this time as a Swordsman, the role he originally excelled in. But his time as an Enchanter was far from wasted. The experience, knowledge, and countless original spells he developed in the Hero Party have forged him into a warrior unlike any other. Now, armed with an unconventional set of skills, Orhun is ready to carve his own path—one that will prove his true strength to the world.

Section 3: Star Levels — Explained

Action/Violence Level

Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None leans into a ton of action as Orhun and the other characters aim to complete the Great Dungeon. There’s a steady mix of:

  • Magic attacks
  • Weapons like swords, spears, and staffs
  • Battle-focused scenes

It’s not overly intense, but there’s definitely more going on compared to your super cozy slice-of-life shows.

Addiction Level

This one is very easy to binge—I flew through it in about two days! It keeps your attention with its pacing and characters.

That said… it didn’t quite land in my “top favorites” category. I think it was a little too hyped up for me by others. Still enjoyable, just not one I’d personally reach for again and again.

Blood/Gore Level

Light… but noticeable. While most of the blood shed comes from monsters, there are a couple moments that stand out:

  • A character who cannot die despite severe injury
  • A beheading scene (while very blurred, it is clear to viewers what has happened)

Nothing overly graphic, but definitely something to be aware of—especially for more sensitive viewers.

Inappropriate, Heavy, or Mature Themes or Conduct

There are a few things here that may raise eyebrows depending on your comfort level:

  • Betrayal: Despite all he did for them, Orhun’s original party kicks him out for being “too weak.” As it turns out, he was their strongest member!
  • Mild Fan Service
    • Bathing/shower scenes (though they are mostly covered with steam, there are a few appearances of cleavage)
    • Some teasing and reflections about appearance (including comments about bust size)
  • Drinking: Generally age-appropriate, but there is a moment where two girls get drunk and act flirty toward Orhun. It’s played for humor, and he quickly shuts it down
  • Darker Backstory Elements: One character, Caroline, has a Special Ability that heals all of her injuries and completely prevents her from dying. She was previously captured by a religious cult and experimented on because of this supernatural ability.

👉 Anime Momma Take: Most of these scenes are not overwhelming, but this section is where most of your “parent radar” moments will come from.

Alternative Lifestyle Themes

Age Gap Crush: Sophia, who is only 14, develops a huge crush on 18-year-old Orhun after he saves her in the first episode. It’s mostly treated as a one-sided, youthful crush, but it’s still worth noting.

Level of Magical Elements

Oh yes—magic is everywhere in this one! Characters regularly:

  • Cast spells on themselves and others
  • Enhance strength and abilities
  • Use magic as part of both combat and daily interactions

It’s very much a core part of the story.

Level of Romance

Light, but definitely present. There’s a lot of female characters admiring and fawning over Orhun, commenting on his strength, kindness, and abilities.

It stays mostly surface-level and doesn’t become deeply romantic, but it’s noticeable.

Section 4: Special Notes for Parents & Guardians

While not everything is shown in detail, there are some heavier backstory elements quietly woven into the lives of several main characters—especially from before they became adventurers.

We do learn more about Caroline’s past this season (as mentioned above), but there are also brief glimpses into others:

  • Sophia’s Story: Due to being a lovechild, Sophia experienced deep emotional and physical neglect growing up as her family largely ignored her existence.
  • Logan’s Background: He comes from a very poor town that struggled with extreme hardship due to poor soil.

👉 Anime Momma Take: None of this is presented in a graphic or overwhelming way, but it is there. These moments add emotional depth to the story, even if they stay mostly in the background.

This can be a gentle opportunity to talk about:

  • Empathy for others’ experiences
  • How different people grow up in different circumstances
  • And how kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life

👉 Overall, just something to be aware of—not a dealbreaker, but worth keeping in mind depending on your viewer 💛

Final Thoughts

This one has a fun, adventurous surface… but there’s a little more going on underneath than you might expect 👀

You’ve got:

  • Magic, teamwork, and a solid isekai-style journey
  • Characters learning to rely on each other
  • A story that keeps you engaged and moving

But woven quietly in the background are some heavier themes—past trauma, hardship, and emotional wounds that aren’t always fully explored, but are definitely present.

And then, of course, there are a few lighter “anime moments” (fan service, humor, etc.) that may or may not fit every family’s comfort level.

👉 Anime Momma Take: This isn’t a fully carefree watch—but it’s not overly heavy either. It lives right in that middle space where a little awareness goes a long way.

💛 Best for:

  • Older kiddos or teens
  • Watching together when possible
  • Families comfortable pausing for quick conversations if something comes up

👉 Anime Momma Verdict: A fun and engaging adventure with a few caution flags—worth watching, just with your “parent radar” gently on 💛✨

Thank you for reading this review and I look forward to seeing you in our next one. 💛
